Getting into Johor

By Airplane
The Senai International Airport is located in Senai, Johor Bahru and is roughly 30 minutes away from the city centre by taxi. Head to the taxi counters to book a taxi with a flat rate.

By Bus
The main bus station, Larkin Central, is situated in Johor Bahru and is located just 15 minutes from the city centre. The station accommodates bus services from all over Peninsula Malaysia as well as Singapore.

Visitors from Singapore have the choice of several bus services, mainly Causeway Link Bus, SBS Transit Bus, SMRT Bus, Transtar Bus, Singapore-Johor Express. Most of these bus services however will take you to the JB Central bus station and not Larkin Central so be sure to check the destination boards prior to boarding.

By Car
For visitors from Singapore, you may drive into Johor through the main entry point, Sultan Iskandar Customs (from Woodlands Checkpoint in Singapore). You may also enter Johor Bahru through what is locally known as the ‘Second Link’, Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (from Tuas Checkpoint in Singapore).

Visitors from Kuala Lumpur (or the rest of Peninsula Malaysia), should take the North-South Expressway which links the capital Johor Bahru all the way to Alor Setar in Kedah.

Getting around in Johor

By Bus
Visitors to Johor Bahru can travel to different places within the city by using its extensive bus service network. The buses have destination boards and mostly operate from Larkin Central or the main bus stops in the city centre opposite of City Square (a shopping mall linked to the Malaysian Customs). The fares for the majority of the buses are relatively cheap and they also cater to travellers who are heading to the outskirts of Johor.

By Car
There are numerous car rental services in Johor Bahru offering a wide variety of cars to accommodate groups, families and individual preferences. Trusted companies like Avis Car Rental, Mayflower Car Rental have offices in Johor Bahru.

Taxi, Uber or Grab services
Alternatively, you may also download ride sharing applications such as Uber or Grab or flag down local taxi services. Uber and Grab are actively more popular in the city and rides can easily be booked using the respective apps.

Tip: If you are flagging down a local taxi, be sure to make sure the taxi operator is using a meter-rate.
