RAMSAR Site Sungai Pulai
A complex, flourishing ecosystem of mangroves, mudflats and riverine forests that epitomise Johor’s natural beauty. Sungai Pulai is another RAMSAR site that is abundant in lush greenery. The habitat houses unique mangrove wildlife, with birds such as the Mangrove Blue Flycatcher and mammals including the Brush-tailed Porcupines and Scaly Ant-Eaters.
RAMSAR offers guided boat rides along the river, taking visitors right into the thick of the forest to view its flora and fauna. Going out at night, your cruise may be illuminated by warm light of fireflies dancing through the trees. The river leads out to the sea and to Pulau Merambong, an uninhabited island off the Johor coast. The river cruises along Sungai Pulai last two hours, with boats capable of carrying up to 10 people at a time.
